Ringwood, UK — 1 June 2026 — John Sheekey has joined Utterly, the platform company behind a new generation of specialist UK law firms, as Co-Founder and Group Chief Operating Officer.
Sheekey takes day-to-day responsibility for delivering the operations and commercial functions of Utterly and the group's operating companies, and for the launch of each new firm. He joins to help move Utterly from one live firm, Settlement Agreement Solicitors, to a platform for several.
Sheekey brings extensive experience building and scaling businesses, from start-up and early-stage growth through to more established organisations. He joins from the accountancy firm Gravita, where as Group COO he helped lead the business through five acquisitions and integrations while transforming its operations and technology platform. Before that he held a number of commercial and operational executive roles across a range of technology, data and platform businesses, with a track record of helping organisations grow while building the teams, processes and infrastructure around them.
At Utterly, his focus is turning a proven model into repeatable delivery, so every client of every firm gets the same straight, fair service as the group scales.
"We have proved the model with one firm; John's job is to help us do it again, and again, without losing what made the first one work. He has scaled and integrated businesses before. He is exactly the operator we want running it," said Patrick Knight, Founder and Group CEO of Utterly.
"Utterly is doing something genuinely different in legal services. I am here to make the delivery match the ambition, so every client gets the same five-star treatment," said John Sheekey, Co-Founder and Group COO.
About Utterly
Utterly is a legal-tech group that builds, owns and operates specialist consumer law firms in the UK. Each firm covers a single field of law on a fixed fee and runs on Utterly's own platform. Utterly is a technology and platform company, not a law firm; legal services are provided by its separate, independently regulated firms. Its first firm, Settlement Agreement Solicitors, is live; further firms are in build.
